From 2018 to 2023, the Department of English has actively fostered a vibrant academic and creative environment by organizing a range of events such as literary quizzes, debates, elocution, and poetry recitation competitions. Workshops on essay writing and scriptwriting, alongside numerous other initiatives, have provided students with platforms to hone their critical thinking and literary skills. This ongoing effort has been instrumental in encouraging students to explore their potential and excel in diverse literary and creative endeavors.

MENTORING

The mentoring process for undergraduate English Literature students is designed to comprehensively address their diverse academic and personal needs. It includes tutorials tailored for academically weaker students and special sessions to challenge and inspire advanced learners. One-to-one psychological counselling is also available, offering support to students navigating personal or academic challenges. Additionally, the mentoring program serves as a platform to address grievances of various types, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where students can thrive both intellectually and emotionally.

OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

The Department of English aims to prepare its students for their roles in the greater society as a part of their holistic education. This is in turn allows both the Department and its students to reach out to the community around the college and raise awareness regarding not only education, but various social, fiscal, and medical issues which may concern them. To this end, the Department of English regularly participates in several outreach events throughout the year within the Khanda community.

INTER-DEPARTMENTAL AND INTERCOLLEGE ACTIVITIES

The Department of English seeks to foster inter-departmental, inter-disciplinary, and inter-institutional collaboration, communication, and competition among its students. Striving towards this goal, the Department has co-organized several events within the College wherein students of various departments can come together to learn and grow through cooperation and competitions. It has also enrolled its students in inter-college events where the students of Department of English, Khandra College, have left their mark.
